PE and Sport Premium Funding
Playing sport is an important part of maintaining a healthy life style, it builds resilience and fosters community partnerships. The opportunities afforded to pupils through exposure to sports in school are the first steps to supporting mental wellbeing and to competing at the highest level, which enhances our reputation of being a sporting nation.

However, upon leaving school many pupils stop playing sports, which can lead to a less healthy lifestyle and means that they are not fulfilling their sporting potential. At St Werburgh’s we have a reputation for embedding the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle and support pupils regardless of their economic or social background.

What is the Sports Premium?
The government provides funding which is allocated to Primary School Headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all of their children. This funding is ring-fenced and can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.

Further information about the funding can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/pe-and-sport-premium-for-primary-schools

Leadership:
Our Sport Premium Leaders are Mr Adam Metcalf and Miss Rebecca Wallis. They can be contacted, via the school office, by emailing admin@stwerburghs.derby.sch.uk or calling 01332 673827.
