As inline with the new SIAMS’ framework (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) Religious Education is taught 1 hr per week in Reception/Key stage 1 and 1hr 15mins per week in Key stage 2, i.e. 36 hours per year in Key Stage 1 and 45 per year in Key Stage 2, and is distinct from the time spent on Collective Worship.
RE units of work are sometimes block taught. Teaching is differentiated and structured to meet the learning needs of all pupils, including SEND, and a creative approach to delivering the material is encouraged.
All members of staff take it in turns to lead daily worship. Each week we hold Class or Key Stage Worship in order to allow the opportunities of Collective Worship to be offered to children at a more personal level according to their age and level of understanding. In addition, we hold celebration worships in order to celebrate the gifts and individuality of each child. Our planned opportunities for Collective Worships are available to view here.
